  • Successfully appealed trial court decision getting client a more favorable result in the valuation of her home and value of a marital debt where trial court’s findings in an equitable distribution order were not supported by competent evidence. Copeland v. Copeland, 2012 N.C.App. LEXIS 1391 (2012)
  • Achieved favorable result for client at trial on business evaluation upheld on appeal. Swaney v. Swaney, 720 S.E.2d 461; (North Carolina Court of Appeals, 2011)
  • Successfully represented client in the now-seminal case holding business is a “person” under the definition of the North Carolina Loan Brokers Act and affirming favorable result for client at trial on unfair and deceptive trade practices and attorney fees. Printing Services of Greensboro v. American Capital Group, 637 S.E.2d 230 (NC Court of Appeals affirmed NC Supreme Court 2006)
  • Received award of attorney’s fees at trial and affirmed on appeal. Tran v. Nguyen, 174 N.C.App.368, 620 S.E.2d 734 (North Carolina Court of Appeals 2005)
  • Successfully defended two alienation of affection claims in Superior Court cases during 2011. One case settled at mediation; one case settled during trial for very low nuisance amount.
  • Successful defense of potential seven figure claim for song writer accused of copyright infringement. Decided at summary judgment stage for $0. Brown v. Flowers, 196 Fed.Appx.178 (United States 4th Circuit Court of Appeals 2006)
